A cinematic interpretation of the world’s largest round table gathering, PROBLEMA is a visually imaginative, thought-provoking invitation to a world of global dilemmas. Spanning seventeen questions confronting who we are and where we’re going, the film follows the insights, perceptions, reflections and views of over 100 people from more than 50 nations sat together in one circle.
Escapism is mental diversion by means ofentertainment or recreation, as an “escape” from the perceived unpleasant or banal aspects of daily life. It can also be used as a term to define the actions people take to help relieve persisting feelings of depression or general sadness.
There is some tendency today of trying to escape to a different reality. That goes for grownups as well as youngsters. We really don’t want to deal with the responsability of facing with the world’s problems since in the end of the day, they are our problems too. We don’t want to deal with (this) reality. So what makes you want to feel less responsible for the world nowadays?
In fact, we are obliged to, since we enjoy things from all over the world, thus it is only natural that we are responsible for it.
It’s a lack of perception, this separation between you and other people, that’s what makes you say ‘it’s YOUR problem’ or ‘it’s HIS problem’ but in fact.. ‘it’s OUR problem’ whatever it is, whatever thing might pop up right now, it’s OUR problem. You see, my car isn’t just MINE, it’s OURS, it was even ours the time it was just separated car parts, the time it was something else to somebody else.
Annie Leonard was right in one thing and wrong in another, she was right when she stated humans are the common part in all our systems, but she was wrong to say the cause for it was only consumption.
In fact, the lack in our perception IS the root of all our problems, this distinction between what’s inside and what is outside, if i perceived everything outside as being inside me, as being me, i wouldn’t harm it, since i would consider it to be a part of my own body and self.
And this corrupts all our relationships since i naturally hate everything i consider foreign to me, but what if it’s NOT foreign to me?
Makes you wonder right?
